In this detailed Educative.io review, I will share my learning experience with the platform. It will help you decide if it is worth your money.
Here is what I will cover.
- Overview of the Educative platform
- Platform features
- Course quality
- Educative Hands-on labs (in-browser coding environment)
- AI features for learning
- Overall user experience
By the end, you will have a clear idea of which Educative subscription plan suits you best if you decide to go ahead with it.
Lets get started.
What is Educative.io?
Educative is a learning platform built around interactive, text-based courses (1,600+ interactive courses).
Instead of watching videos, you learn by reading, practicing in built-in coding playgrounds, and solving hands-on exercises.
It is popular among developers preparing for interviews, system design, cloud, and DevOps roles.
Overall, more than 2.8 + million developers use the platform globally.
Key Features of Educative.io
Below are some of the key features of educative.io
- Educative.io allows you to learn, write, and run code on the platform itself without any additional setup.
- It creates a custom learning path based on your information. For example, if you are preparing for a DevOps interview, it will create a learning path for the specific domain interview.
- Every course has tests to check your understanding at the end.
- If you are preparing for interviews, it provides a mock interview with an AI assistant.
This is just some of the features in Educative.io, there is much more.
Available Courses in Educative.io
In Educative, you will get courses on the following topics, which are clearly arranged under each section.
- System Design
- Generative AI
- AWS
- Programming Language
- Web Development
- Coding Interview Patterns
- Software Engineering
- Machine Learning

I chose the AWS course, which teaches AWS from scratch.
They also have courses for AWS certification exams like Master AWS Certified Solutions Architect Associate and Master AWS Certified AI Practitioner.
Each lesson includes quizzes, mock exams, and mock interviews, which are helpful for exam preparation. You also get a completion certificate at the end.
Courses are separated as popular, beginner-friendly, and free, making navigation easy.

Learning Path
The learning paths give you full roadmaps based on what you want to learn. Available paths include:
- Generative AI
- AWS
- Programming Language
- Web Development
- Coding Interview Patterns
- Software Engineering
- Machine Learning
- Front End Development
- API
- DevOps
For example, if you pick a topic, it will give you a complete roadmap to master it.

I used the DevOps path to learn version control and trace analysis.
It starts with Git, everything you need to know about Git covering branching, commands, and everything a beginner needs.
After completing Git, it gives a complete roadmap on how you can use Git for version control, and following that, it gives everything you need to know about tracing and logging.
Just like the courses, each lesson ends with quizzes, and you get a certificate after completing the path.
Technology Guides & Hands-on Projects
There are also separate sections for technologies with their courses and paths.
Below are the technology guides that Educative offers:
- AI Agent
- Jax
- Playwright
- Kubernetes
- Pydantic
- HTML
- Langchain
- RxJava
- ThreeJS
- Rest API
- NestJS
When you select a technology, you will see the available courses, and learning paths related to it.
At the end, you get hands-on projects to apply your learned technology.

For example, I learned about Kubernetes.
The course starts with a detailed explanation of Kubernetes concepts, how it works, and each object and resource.
After that, it will give you a good understanding of every object and resource in Kubernetes.
After that, it moves into advanced topics like auto-scaling, monitoring, and pod troubleshooting.
Again, you will get a complete certification once you finish the full learning path.
Practice Section (Hands-on Labs)
The practice section has two sub-sections, Projects and Cloud Labs.
In the projects section, you see how-to guides and hands-on on the selected topic.

In the cloud, you can have multiple projects. If you select any project, it will give you a Visual Studio Code as shown in the image below, and start by asking you to set up the environment and provide instructions to complete the project.

The Cloud Labs are only available for Premium Plus users. They can work on the following cloud services.

Interview Prep & Mock Interviews
If you are a person looking for new jobs, Educative will guide you to prepare for interviews and give mock interviews based on the job you are looking for.
For mock interviews, select the type of job you are interviewing for

It will ask for your experience, select it, and press the start button to start it.

It will create an interface according to the role you select.

And, in the interview preparation, you will find the following modules.

Select the topic you want to look into, it will teach you about the topic and ask a question based on it as shown below.

Resources Available
Apart from courses and roadmaps, Educative also has other resources like Newsletters, Blogs, Guides, Cheatsheets, games, and also offers an environment to run code.

Fenzo: AI-Powered Tutorial Generator
Educative.io has a tool called Fenzo, which is an AI-powered tutorial generator. It generates step by step tutorials based on the query.
I have asked "How to build and Dockerize a Java application". It gave me all the steps needed, also the application file and Dockerfile.
The content of the files is editable, and you can edit it in the output itself.

It also gave a simple workflow of the build process, as shown below.

The steps and explanations are still basic and do not cover deep explanations like production-level details.
If you need to learn a specific topic, you can use Fenzo to learn the basics faster.
User Experience
When I logged in, I saw a clean dashboard with all resources arranged in separate sections, like courses, paths, projects, etc.
Educative has a huge library of courses and learning paths. It not only guides people who are trying to learn about something, but also helps people learn advanced concepts about what they have knowledge of.
I chose DevOps topics and started learning, each topic covers the end-to-end information and its advanced concepts.
The lessons are text-based with detailed diagrams that are easy to understand even for a beginner.
The hands-on environment provides everything required to run scripts or deploy an application. No setup is needed.
The mock interviews and preparation modules are extremely useful for anyone getting ready for a job interview.
Overall, I feel like this platform has everything from learning to interview preparation.
If you want to upskill in DevOps or any other field and have time to learn, Educative is a strong choice.
Educative.io Pricing and Plans
Educative has three types of plans.

In the Premium plus plan, along with what is in the Standard and Premium plans, you will get 270+ AWS Cloud labs, and 7 AI mock interviews per month.
The Bottom Line: My Educative.io Review
For me, the platform is most useful for cloud & devops learning, tools, and scripting associated with it.
If you are a DevOps Engineer or learning to become DevOps Engineer, you should know the following:
- Linux
- Scripting
- Containerization and container orchestration
- Cloud
- IaC
- Kubernetes
- Troubleshooting skills
Educative helps you master everything from scratch to advance with detailed courses that cover everything and hands-on parts in their own hosted environment.
Not only is it great for DevOps Engineers, but it is also great for Developers, ML Engineers, and anyone trying to improve technical skills.
The best part is the interactive text-based learning. It avoids long videos and focuses on learning by reading and coding, which saves time and allows quick revision.
But if you are someone who likes to watch videos and learn, then Educative is not for you. You can choose platforms like Pluralsight for video-based learning.
Free Trial and Refund Policy
If you signup for the educative free trail, you need to give your credit card details before using it. You won't get charged until the trial period ends.
By the last day of the trial, you will be automatically charged, and the plan will continue. But don't worry, you can cancel 24 hours before the last day of the trial.
And, for the refund policy, if you bought an unlimited access subscription and canceled it immediately, you can ask for a refund.
After you cancel the subscription, your access will be blocked immediately. Also, they can say no to your refunds if your activity feels suspicious to them.
Overall Educative Pros and Cons
In the following table I have listed the educative platforms pros and cons.
| Feature | Pros | Cons |
| Learning Style | Interactive, text-based (no video fatigue) | No videos (can be a downside for visual learners) |
| Practice | Built-in IDE & Cloud Labs (No setup needed) | Cloud Labs limited to highest tier |
| Content | Elite "Grokking" series for interviews | Some niche courses can feel basic |
| AI Features | Fenzo tutorial generator & AI Mock Interviews | AI-generated content lacks deep "pro" insights |
Educative vs Udemy
I have used both Educative and Udemy for learning, the difference in both of them is their learning method.
In Educative, the learning is text-based, and it provides an in-built environment to run code.
But, in Udemy, it is completely video-based learning, and if you want to do it hands-on, you have to use your own local setup.
Also, in Educative, you can get complete library access by buying specific plans, but in Udemy, you have to pay for each course to access it.
In my opinion, if you are a person who needs text-based learning and needs interview preparation, choose Educative.
If you understand better by watching videos, choose Udemy.
Conclusion
In this educative review, I covered all the resources available on Educative.io along with my personal learning experience.
I hope this blog helps you understand what the platform offers and whether it suits your learning style.
I currently have an active Educative subscription, and next I will be focusing on GenAI and MLOps-related technologies. I will keep this review updated with my learnings and experiences.
