In this review, I will share my experience with learning Udacity Agentic AI Nanodegree courses.

Udacity has long been known for its career-focused nanodegree programs, and the Agentic AI Nanodegree is one of its latest and most exciting offerings.

The program explores how to design, build, and scale AI agents in a structured, hands-on way.

With AI agents increasingly shaping industries from customer support and research automation to business analytics, understanding how to build and deploy them has become an important skill.

That is why I choose this course to learn how to build AI Agents that can help me learn and automate tasks. Also help me connect different tools in meaningful ways.

Course Overview

This program is divided into 4 courses, each having its own concepts, coding exercises, and hands-on projects.

Rather than just teaching frameworks, the program highlights raw coding and conceptual understanding, giving you the ability to build agents from scratch.

Let's go through each course one by one.

Course 1: Prompting for Effective Reasoning and Planning.

This course is all about mastering the art of prompting. You will learn how to guide an AI system step-by-step with advanced prompting strategies like Chain-of-Thought (CoT) and ReAct, plus how to refine prompts through feedback loops.

Project - "Trip Planner" is about applying prompting techniques effectively.

Course 2: Agentic Workflows

This course will introduce workflow patterns such as prompt chaining, routing, parallelization, and orchestrator patterns through hands-on coding.

You will also learn the difference between simple automation (fixed scripts) and agentic workflows (flexible, adaptive systems).

Project: "Project Management Agent" is about implementing workflows with external APIs.

Course 3: Building Agents

Building Agents course is where you will learn to get practical in building AI Agents. It starts with how agents can connect to external tools like databases, custom functional tools, and APIs.

It also covers concepts like managing state vs memory and constructing Agentic RAG systems that retrieve documents, reason, and iterate to improve answers.

By the end of this lesson, I felt like I had moved from experimenting to actually building AI agents that can think and act.

Project: "AI Research Agent for Video Games" is about building an agentic RAG system connected to APIs (my personal favorite).

Course 4: Multi-Agent Systems

Multi-Agent Systems course is all about how to design collaborative AI systems using orchestration, state management, and RAG workflows.

The Lessons use comparison, diagrams, and coding exercises to simplify these complex topics.

Project: "Beaver’s Choice Paper Company Sales Team" is about orchestrating multi-agent collaboration.

Hands-On Projects

Each course ends with a coding project and quizzes, making the program highly practical and feel resume-ready.

My favorite project was the "AI Research Agent for video game" where I built an autonomous agent capable of gathering and reasoning over unstructured data to assist game developers.

It felt like I could showcase this project in an interview or even deploy it in a real-world use.

Another project that stood out was "AI-powered Agentic Workflow for Project Management". In this assignment, you will build different agent types and use them to orchestrate a multi-step workflow for managing a technical project.

This project is a turning point to see how these agents could coordinate tasks, track progress, and make decisions autonomously.

Both projects demonstrated the practical power of AI agents and felt highly rewarding and career-relevant.

My Udacity Agentic AI Nanodegree Review

When I first enrolled in the program, I felt a mix of excitement and uncertainty about the course and its structure. While I already had some knowledge of AI concepts, the idea of building an agentic system from scratch felt intimidating.

But as I started the lessons I realized that the course was more structured in a way I was learning the right concepts before moving forward.

The teaching style is a combination of short video lectures with hands-on coding labs and quick quizzes that help us learn each concept. The pace felt manageable, though some coding sections require careful attention.

The challenging part of this program is writing everything from scratch instead of using tools like LangChain, CrewAI, or the OpenAI SDK.

It was tough at first, but later I realized that it was the best way to truly understand how agents think and act.

By the end of this course, I had learn workflow patterns, RAG pipelines, API integrations, and prompt optimization.

Also understood how AI agents work, which helped me to start applying these skills to real-world projects.

Difficulty Level & Time Commitment

Beginners with no Python experience may find it difficult, but for those comfortable with coding, the program is more comfortable and understandable.

This course is for intermediate-level users.

For me, it took around 2 months to complete the program at a steady pace.

Who Should Take This Course?

This course is ideal for:

  • Students who already know Python and want to break into AI agent development.
  • Working professionals looking to apply agentic AI in real-world use cases.
  • AI enthusiasts who want to level up from prompting to building scalable systems.

Not suitable for total beginners, since there is no Python basics preparation included.

You get access to project reviews, Q&A, and mentor support. While the support is reliable, the community aspect is weaker as there is no active Slack or Discord, but Udacity's forums are available for peer interaction.

On pricing, Udacity is on the costlier side, with monthly subscriptions costing a few hundred dollars.

But, compared to alternatives like Coursera, edX, or DeepLearning.AI, Udacity feels more project-driven and better suited for building a portfolio.

If you value structured projects and portfolio-ready outcomes, it is worth the investment.

Certification & Career Impact

Yes, you will receive a Udacity Nanodegree certificate upon completing the program. While it is not as widely recognized as a university credential, Udacity has a solid reputation in the tech industry.

The real value lies in the skills you gain, being able to architect, code, and deploy AI agents. These are directly applicable to AI engineering, data science, or product development roles.
